Whatever the size or complexity of your application, ph Water & Air Technologies has a Chlorine Dioxide system to suit
Today, applications for Chlorine Dioxide are as diverse as the destruction of hydrogen sulphide in gas pipelines, through to the purification of water in commercial buildings, critical care areas in hospitals, food processing plants and industrial cooling water systems.
Whatever the size or complexity of your application, ph Water and Air Technologies has a Chlorine Dioxide system to suit – ranging from small borehole treatment systems, through to custom engineered generation systems used in data centres and industrial iron and manganese precipitation applications.
Our range of generators undertake proportional dosing of ClO2 using an inline water meter to signal the controller and dose two precursor chemicals simultaneously into a reaction chamber which holds the chemicals for a period of no less than 14 minutes. The pre cursors react within the chamber and >90% active ClO2 is dosed into the water supply.
For additional safety our units incorporate a ClO2 Gas escape alarm which will automatically shut off the dosing plant. When linked to the Red LED flashing beacon for installation outside ClO2 generator rooms it can notify personnel that PPE is to be worn prior to entering the room.
By incorporating remote data collection technology we can provide off site data logging via a ‘Cloud Connect’ portal. By using water monitoring technology you can ensure that those responsible for maintaining a system can identify a problem and remediate before it becomes more serious & significantly reduce maintenance costs.
Whatever the application PH Water Technologies are sure to deliver effective Chlorine Dioxide dosing and control for your peace of mind.
Chlorine dioxide is an oxidising biocide/disinfectant that when used correctly, has been shown to be effective at controlling both legionella and biofilm growth in hot and cold water systems.
In the appropriate application, it may be used to aid legionella control where maintaining a conventional temperature regime is difficult or where the removal of all dead legs and little used outlets is impractical.
Chlorine dioxide is usually produced on site from a chlorite-based precursor using a chlorine dioxide generator or dosing system by reaction with one or more other chemical precursors or by a catalytic oxidation process.
It has a bacterial efficiency comparable with that of free chlorine in the neutral pH range, however unlike chlorine, its efficiency increases as the pH rises. Another important fact is that it is extremely soluble in water, being up to five times more soluble than chlorine.
Used commercially in aqueous solution rather than gas due to its explosiveness when exposed to rising temperatures, exposure to light or allowed to come into contact with organic substances. In aqueous solution it is completely harmless and will not react chemically with water, as would chlorine. It can be used up to a maximum dose level of 0.5ppm for drinking water disinfection, and has a particular advantage where phenol’s are likely to cause taste problems or in waters which have high pH or ammonia levels.
The advice form the HSE is that where temperature control is not achieved, other measures such as using appropriate biocides should be considered (e.g. chlorine dioxide).
